50% of Assisi Hospice’s patients are poorest of the poor and means-tested to the lowest income level. Our patients, especially those from underprivileged families, require help from the community in times of distress. Your support is crucial for us to continue this journey of love in serving our community of patients and families. We hope to raise more than $1 million from Assisi Dinner 2022.
Sake set handmade by Rayn for Assisi hospice fundraising gala dinner auction.
The yellow and blue macro-crystalline glaze on the carafe is titled "Imperial Moonshine" as it triggers in the artist a sense of nostalgia and mysteriousness from the distant past. The transcendental beauty of translucent porcelain hints of ancient luxury from the orient. This glaze is coloured by the oxides of Manganese and Cobalt.
All interior surfaces of this sake set are covered with a food-safe transparent glaze.
Celebrating the bond of friendship, this 4-piece sake set (consisting of a carafe and 3 cups) represents how single pieces, each with different functions, come together to serve a greater purpose. The signature hexagonal design symbolises Unity in Diversity as they form a perfect network with zero distance between unique individuals.
Dimensions:
Carafe: 4.5cm x 6cm x 23cm
Cup: 6cm x 7cm x 6cm
2.5x tax deduction is applicable to the amount that exceeds the start bid price of this item = Final winning bid price - start bid price ($300)
Titled: ‘Rare Earth Pink Cloud’Analogous to the formation of willemite crystals in earth’s magma that takes millions of years, the exterior of the carafe is covered with a macro-crystalline glaze that requires highly precise formulation and firing procedure to create the flowery blooms. The pink colour of the exterior glazes is obtained through the oxide of the rare earth element - Erbium.
With guidance from Rayn, the creative process enabled Mdm Tan to find joy and independence through painting. Three years ago, she was diagnosed with sepsis (blood infection) and became critically ill. Eventually she pulled through but had to amputate both her arms and part of her legs due to gangrene. She was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and joined Assisi Hospice’s Day Care Centre in Jan 2021. Despite her health and physical challenges, she remains bubbly and cheerful amidst adversity. She enjoys chatting with staff and other patients and the physiotherapy, music and art therapy sessions.
Mdm Tan said, “I am happy that my artwork has been chosen to contribute to charity.”
This unique 4-piece sake set (consisting of a carafe and 3 cups) is born from the collaboration of local potter Rayn Leow, founder of Ceramication, and our Day Care patients. It is lovingly designed and hand-painted by our Day Care patient, 74 year-old Som, under the guidance of Rayn. After painting, the carafe and cups were covered with a food safe transparent glaze and fired to 1200 degrees Celsius. These pieces are made of translucent porcelain - a mark of their durability and beauty.

Hosted and coordinated by Little Botany, a fundraiser for Assisi Hospice was held in Mar 2022 to help drive funding for palliative care. Ceramication sponsored handcrafted pots made according to the ‘sky’ theme. The event managed to gather eight thousand dollars for the cause through an IG Live auction.
"Assisi Hospice takes in end-of-life patients regardless of race, language, religion and social class. 51% of the patients are from the lowest income group. The hospice provide them during their last moments, most importantly, Dignity. The main fund raising gala hasn't been possible for two years due to the Covid-19 distancing rules in place. "
"The theme is 'Sky' because the hospice is designed for every single patient to be able to see the sky from their resting place."
